He awoke during his own funeral. Back then in Alabama you were waked in your homes. You were not embalmed. Pappy awoke to announce "why is everyone crying?" He must have been in a coma. He came to the realization that he had a special gift of insight. People would come around and he could identify their problems and would gently place his hands on them and they would be healed.He would often mix up different salves and made use of many of natures herbs to hand out to the townspeople.For stomach ailments,rashes,wounds etc. Most often he was paid with a couple of chickens or a sack of whatever was offered many times he worked pro bono. I am humbled to carry on with him in his line of work.
